NOTICE. PITRE VOLATILE EUCALYPTUS GLOBULUS EXTRACT. Under the distinguished patrpnkge, of Lis Majesty the King of Italy, at Rome, according to communication received from the Corisu 1-General fot Italy, at Melbourne, Upon instructions from the Minister for Foreigli Affairs, dated 14th March, 1878. . We are informed that dealers iii medicine often try to sell the eucylvptus oil found in the trade instead of our Euclyptus Extract. So far as the committing of imposition against the publife in such a case is concerned, the consequences would not be serious;: but as the qualities of both of the products are in many cases directly opposed to one another, we consider it our duty tb direct the public attention to the following facts:— •• The eucalyptus oil is recorded tb fee of value as a medicament in cases of rheumatism of secondary nature, and manifests a drawing, blistering effect upon the skin. Any blistering brought on by the application of a medicament must increases inflamation, and it is therefore evident that in cases of wounds, colds, bronchitis, diptheria, croup, sprains &c., the curative power of our extract oh the named diseases being unquestionably proved by former publications in this paper. An application of the oil instead of our extract must impair the diseased. ' The truth of our assertion is founded npon the fact that the oil is a resinous product equivalent to common turpentine, its market % T alue being about three shillings one pound weight; our extract consists of the evaporating particles of the gum leaves, soothing and healing in its effects, its price being twenty-four shillings for one pound, weight. Our extract, the genuine article, is only made up in, one. half ounce and one ounce vials ; vials bearing on the labels our trade mark and signature. .
