A POLITICAL CHAMELEON, OR, REID VERY READY.

Ye lovers of the muse ! go, see The West Coast Times of yesterday ! For therein glow, in verses sweet, Effusions of the poet laureate. He speaks of Westland and her member, . In even numbers, smoothly laid ; But this old man, we most remember, His seat of reason is nearly lied. ■He would be witty—talks of “wriggler,” Fancy’s call and Sit George Grey ; Had I his mother wit, I’d strangle” her, Then on the “Cross” I’d kneel and pray. He mounts his steed, and, to Greymonth, In fiery haste sped o’er tho skies ; But know, friend Arnott lives down south, Have caution, or he may chastise. He’s then on principle its power, To guide men in the hour of need ; If this correct, within the hour Bring forth thy valiant silent Reid. Where is the man with others stood, To represent our humble place ? This I attest, by stream and wood, I ne’er set eyes upon his face. Dick Seddon, boldly to the front, From place to place speaks out his mind. In vigorous language, aye, his wont Heeds not what verdict men may find.
