Sir—ln reference to the fire which occurred at my house on the morning of the 23rd inst.j I desire to record my sincere thanks to Constable Chambers who not only was the first to rap me up bnt actually succeeded in extinguishing the fire before I could get outside. I consider such praiseworthy conduct deserves recognition, not only by the public here, but by those at the head of the Police department. .
