Tom Thumb is no exception to other celebrities ;as he ages, he cheapens. For the first time in his life, he is up for ten cents. It used to cost a quarter of a dollar at least to see him. Nevertheless, he is attracting multitudes, and probably his income is as much as ever in the aggregate. From San Francisco the important news reaches us that Miss Clara Morris, during the performance of “ Man and Wife ” shed real tears, her grief being caused by the fact that her favourite dog Pansy had the toothache. An amusing list of unrehearsed effects has been compiled by Mr Ed ward Spencer. To these may de added one during the last run of “ The Two Orphans,” at the Olympic, under the management of Henry Neville. A young lady of very prepossessing appearance was so carried away by the reality of the scene, when Mrs Huntly as Froohard drags about and illtreats Miss Marion Terry as the blind orphan girl, that the young and indignant spectator got up in her place in the stalls and deliberately hurled her opera glasses at Mrs Huntley’s head. Luckily she missed her mark, but there lay the opera-glasses on the stage. Not knowing to whom they belonged, Mr Neville was compelled to advertise for the owner.
