RECOGNITION OF COURAGEOUS CONDUCT.

The Bank of Australasia some time ago presented to Mr Hector Munro a valuable watch, (fee., in recognition of his courageous Conduct in repelling the attack of two armed men oh the Moe. (Victoria) branch of the Bank in November last. It is now stated by the Insurance and Banking Record that “ the sister institutions nave, in combination, provided for bestowal upon him a large sterling silver salver. The plate bears this terse and telling inscription :—‘Presented to Hector Munro, Esq., manager of the Bank of Australasia, Mofe, Victoria, by the undermentioned institutions, in recognition of the courage and high sense of duty displayed by him in the successful resistance of an armed attack on the Bank on the night of Nov. 5, 1879.—Bank of Victoria, London Chartered Bank of Australia, English, Scottish, and Australian Chartered Bank, Oriental Bank Corporation, Bank of New Zealand, Union Bank of Australia, Colonial Bank of Australasia, National Bank of Australasia, Commercial Bank of Australia, Bank of New South Wales, Melbourne, April, 1880/ The Banks subscription further provides £2OO for the recipient. This recognition of duty by the banking institutions will be an encouragement to their officers to do likewise if placed in a similar position of difficulty and danger.”
