HOW TO RESTORE LIFE.
Dr T. Sv Lambert, of New York, who kas given a good deal of attention to proteases and possibilities of restoring suspended animation, in a lecture on the subject, insists that heat to restore the normal temperature of the body is an absolute necessity, and frequently is alone sufficient; but should artificial respiration become necessary to restore the functions of the lungs, an incision into the windpipe below the Adam’s apple, which would allow a free passage for the required air, Was, he thought, the surest means of salvation. In cases of choking, slich an incision would, he said, allow breathing, and would in all oases save the life that would otherwise be lost, for time would thus be obtained to remove the obstruction. In cases of banging, the same incision was recommended, and he assured the audience .-..-that anypne..could make the opening, r. jand no'Serious result would follow, as there were no ,large veins ' br nerves in •. that portion, of the human frame divine, and it would close up after its object had been accomplished, &hd the healing process wouldberapidand sure. The that' in drowning cases life can always be restored if no vital . pact ha* been impaired.
