BRITISH AND FOREIGN* London, May 20. The Australian cricketers commenced a match to-day against 18 of Longsight. The English team went in first, and scored 118. Spofforth took nine wickets. The Australians then went in, and when the stumps were drawn had six wickets down for 26. The bowling against them being dead on the wicket. The house of Lords, after a short debate, voted the Address in Reply to the speech from the throne. In the House of Commons'a lengthy debate took place, and after an amendment, proposed by Irish members, had been rejected by a large majority, the Address in Reply was carried. Mr Gladstone in the course of the debate made a speech, in which he explained that Goschen's mission to Constantinople was principally with reference to the Greek and Montenegrin questions, which were most pressing, and it was necessary to disabuse the Turks of the notion that England was specially interested in maintaining Turkey, and that she neither desired to trespass on Turkish rights in Asia.
