KUMARA PROSPECTING ASSOCIATION.
The first meeting of the newly reorganised association was held at the Town Hall last evening ; present—Messrs Seddon (in the chair), Campbell, Blake, Williams, Pearn, Anderson, Dungan, Home, M. Davidson, Levett, F. Barrowman, Munyard, Ross, Magee, Skipper, A. Miller, Mansfield, Christian, Hanna, Reynolds, and Rudkin. Apologies from Messrs Drummond and Skilton were read and received.
Mr W. Nicholson was appointed Secretary and Collector to the Association.
It was moved by Mr Seddon, seconded by Mr Oamfbell and carried, "That a deed of agreement be drawn up by -Mr Perkins binding all subscribers to the association to pay whatever sum they sign the agreement for and to the date named therein."
The following members of the association were appointed as the contracting party whose names are to be inserted in the deed of agreement on behalf of the association : Messrs M. Davidson, A. C. Campbell, E. Blake", and G. Mansfield. Messrs Miller, Pearn, Wylde, and Seddon, were appointed canvassers to get the agreement signed in the. town of Kumara; and Messrs Reynolds, Ross, Levett, Rothwell, Christian, Foldie, Mansfield, Everett, ' Garguillo, Aghew, and Isbister, in Dillman's Town and the goldfield generally. The following were appointed an executive committee: Messrs Reynolds, Everett, F. Barrowman, Ross, Garguillo, Agnew, M'Kenzie, Rothwell, and Blake, five to form a quorum. Messrs Seddon, Blake, Pearn, Camp! bell, and Barrowman were appointed a deputation to wait on the Warden relative to the ground intended to be prospected. Mr Dungan having tendered his resignation as treasurer of the Association, it was accepted with regret, and a vote of thanks passed for his able and efficient services while he acted in that capacity. Mr Pearn, was elected to ,the vacant office.
It was resolved that the sum of 30s per week be the maximum amount allowed to prospectors, together with what necessary applications they may require, and the right to whatever gold they struck.
The following were appointed a finance committee :—Messrs Oampbßll, Anderson. D. Williams, and Miller. It was resolved that the boundaries of the area in which prospecting should be carried out should be. as follows :—On the west by the Greenstone road; on the east, by the Christchurch road ; on the south, by the Loop-line road ; and on the north by the Teremakau river.
The executive commmittee, it was agreed, should report to the general committee at their next monthly meeting, to be held on the first Wednesday in June, to which date the meeting was then adjourned.
