London, April 23. The Marquis of Hurtington after an audience with the Queen, returned to Loudon, and had an interview with Earl Granville and Mr Gladstone, He returns to Windsor to-day, when it is
expected he will decline the task of forming a new Ministry, but will pro* pose Mr Gladstone. Later. Mr Gladstone has been, summoned by the Queen. April 24. Mr Gladstone hna been appointed First Lord of the Treasury and Chancellor of the Exchequer, and has accepted the task of forming a new Ministry.
Earl Granville will probably accept the Secretaryship of State for Foreign Affairs.
Consols advanced to 99. New Zealand securities unchanged. Australian and New Zealand breadstuffs remain the same as last quotations.
At to-day’s wool auction, 11,700 bales were offered, making a total of 52,500 catalogued since the opening. Market firm, and an active demand was again shown at the sale.
