Sydney, April 22. In the Legislative Assembly last night, .-Mr Fitzpatrick, leader of the Opposition, gave notice of motion tantamount to a vote of want of confidence in the Government, iu consequence of the latter’s refusal to legislate on the question of mining on private property. At a meeting of the Mutual Provident Society yesterday, the proposal to amend the bye-laws relating to proxies was rejected by a large majority. Sailed—Arawata, for New Zealand, yesterday. Melbourne, April 22. The spread of diphtheria at Hamilton is diminishing, and precautions are being taken to prevent the outbreak at other parts of the Colony.
