MINING NEWS.

REKFTON, We take the following items of mining news from the Inangahua Herald, of Saturday:— Golden Treasure. The accounts from this mine are of good prospects being seen in the reef at various times before it is broken down. The yield from this claim from the first crushing out of the present block stone has proved beyond that the property is of a sufficiently promising character to warrant the directors to proceed, without any further delay, in obtaining more effective crushing machinery. I am informed they intend doing so in the course of a few months. I have remarked in my former correspondence that if the venture showed moderately payable results, if the crushing power was increased the percentage of profit would be considerably enlarged. Up to Monday last the winze and main tunnel were not connected. The sinking has been going down on quartz but it is possible that the stone sunk on may be a leg of the main body of the reef, and if so, by having the ground surveyed, it would settle the matter, and probably would result in a saving to the company. Victory.—-There is no work proceeding at this mine, the ground being protected. From the very encouraging news coming from the adjoining it is a great pity to think that ground held in such high layour should stand idle. Every week’s operations in the Golden Fleece Extended Company’s mine proves that there is likely to be very good stone met with when a start is again made. Keep-lt-Dark.—There are twelve men engaged in constructions of a progressive nature, such as driving main level north in the endeavour to pick up the old Keep-it-Oark lode on the present level; and in sinking a winze on the lode south of the turn-table.
