BRITISH AND FOREIGN. London, April 15. The homeward mail via Brindisi was delivered to-day. Total reserve in notes and bullion in the Bank of England, £16,000,000. Sir Stafford Northoote and. Lord John Manners have been decorated with the Order of the Grand Cross of the Bath.
It is now stated that it was the Calypso’s and hob the Hawk’s lights which were not burning at the time of the collision.
Consols unchanged at 98|; Five Per Cent. New Zealand Loan (1879), 110; Four and a Half New Zealand Loan, 99£.
The market for breadstuff's is unchanged.
The Australian tallow remains, at last quotations.
April 16. The total quantity of wheat afloat for Great Britain amounts to 191,000 quarters. Adelaide wheat has declined Is, and to-day is quoted at 57s per 496 lbs ex warehouse. Adelaide flour has also declined Is, and is now at 40s 6d per 280 lbs ex warehouse. The market for Adelaide wheat and flour is dull. Australian tallow has advanced 6d per cwt, best beef being worth 32s 6d; best mutton, 34s 6d. New Zealand wheat is quoted at 47s to 47s 6d per 4961bs ex warehouse.
The death of Dr Kenealy, M. P. for Stoke, is announced to-day. Subscriptions have been opened for the balance of the Oaraaru Waterworks Loan to the amount of £89,000. Suez, April 16. The Orient Company’s s.s. Garonne, homeward bound, arrived here. The Australian cricketers are passengers. LATEST AUSTRALIAN NEWS. Sydney, April 15. A destructive fire occurred at Bathurst last night. The flames were only mastered after great exertions. The Legislative Council has thrown out the Bill introduced by Sir Alfred Stephens to restrict its powers. Mr Alexander Stewart, Agent-Gene-ral in London for New South Wales, has resigned, in consequence of private affairs requiring him to remain in the Colony.

Brisbane, April 15, Mr M'llwraith, Premier, who is now afc Home, telegraphs that he is unable to leave London until May, The meeting of Parliament has therefore been postponed till July. Melbourne, April 17. Reports are gaining ground that Mr Murray Smith will probably be offered the Agent-Generalship.
