TARANAKI RACES.
New Plymouth, April 1. The Taranaki Kaces were resumed to-day. The weather was fine, and the attendance quite as large as on the lirsfc day.
Handicip Hurdle Race, 50 sovs.— Otawa, 1 j Ma tan, 2 ; 3. Aiituinn Handicap, 100 sovs. ; one and three-quarter Quail, 1 ; Laertes. 2 ; Opawa, 3. Quail won by a length and a half. A protest was entered agaiust the winner for crossing Laertes. ' Selling Race, M sovs.—Confidante had a walk-over, Forest Kiug being scratched.
. Ladies' Purse, 40 soys.—Hailstorm; i ; Rocket, 2 j Banshee, 3.
