NOTICE. PURE VOLATILE EUCALYPTUS GLOBULUS EXTRACT; Under the distinguished.patronage o{ his Majesty the King of Italy, at Rome,, according to communication received from- the Consul-General for Italy, at ; Melbourne, upon instructions from the Minister for-Foreign Affairs, dated 14th March, 1,878. "We are informed that dealers in medicine often try to sell the eucylyptus oil found in the trade instead of our Euclyptus Extract. So far as,; the committing of imposition against the-publxc in such a case is .concerned, the consequences would not be serious; but as the qualities of both of the products are in many cases directly opposed tq one we cbns'ider it our duty to direct the public attentioh to the following facts: < The eucalyptus oil is recorded tb be of value as a medicament 'ini cases of rheumatism of secondary nature, and manifests a drawing,' blistering effect upon the:shin. ~ : Any blistering brought on by the application of a medicament must increase inflamation, and it is therefore ‘evident that in cases of wounds, colds, bronchitis, diptheria, croup, sprains &c ; , the curative power of our extract on the named diseases being’'llnquestionably proved by former publications in this paper-. An application of the oil instead of our extract must impair the diseased; The truth of our assertion is founded npon the fact that the oil is a resinous product equivalent to common turpentine, its market value being about three shillings one pound height y our extract consists of the evaporating particles of the gum leaves, soothing and healing in its effects, its price being twenty-four shillings for cite pound weight. Our extract, ■ the genuine article, is only made up-in one half ounce and one ounce vials ; vials bearing on the labels our trade mark and signature. The Extract of the Eucalyptus Globulus, manufactured solely by Messrs Sander and Sons, Sandhurst, recommends itself by the following declaration and testimonials Epitome of declaration made before Moritz Cohn, J.P., on the 17 th October, 1877, at Sandhurst :—“ Three medical gentlemen had attended the son of Mr Raabe, of Ironbark, for nine weeks, and declared that amputation of the leg injured by an axe was absolutely necessary. At this junction Mr Raabe called on Messrs Sander and Sons, procuring some of their Extract of the Eucalyptus Globulus, and by the application of the same he had the satisfaction of seeing his sbn Within a fortnight out of, all danger, and he has now quite recovered.’* Brief Extracts from the Bendigo Evening News : Mr Gieschin, residing near Sydenham Gardens, had a very severe cold in November, coxild scarcely breathe, and could get no relief. Cured after three applications of the extract. The same gentleman suffered eight years from rupture, and all medical skill proved ineffedtual in giving relief; Cured after taking extract internally for six months.

A man having his arm bruised severely at a crushing machine, in Long Gully, applied the extract, and the accident did not even necessitate as much as an interruption in his attendance at work. Mrs Weppner, in Colbinabbin (Runnymede) informed the manufacturers that the extract applied twice restored health to her daughter’} eleven years of age, who had been rushed and trampled upon by a cow. In November Mrs Reeves, from the Rifleman’s Anns, Back Creek, brought information of a cure of delirium caused by sunstroke, which took place in the family of Mr Ryan, butcher, of Back Creek. The wife of Mr Fickel suffered in the bend of the knee from a swelling which had formed a lump of considerable size, disabling her from attending to any work. She removed the swelling completely by a continued application of the extract. The Donald Times, of Ist December, 1877, states i— Last week the eldest boy of Mr Morgan awoke in the night crying with earache.
