The £BO,OOO scheme is recommended!
) March 17. A.ftew evening paper to be called the Christchuich News, price halfpenny, will he issued on Saturday. The proprietor is understood to be Mr Cargill, who was formerly publisher of the Evening Mail printed some years ago.
Dunedin, March 16. A trout 201bs weight, 34 inches Jong, 31 inches in girth, said to be the largest caught in the Colony, was taken with a minnow in the upper Taicri the other day by Mr Dry den Greave.
Invercargill, March 16. A butcher, named Clilosey, died suddenly at Rivertouto-day. He had been drinking heavily of late.
