Buchanan, the new apostle of Protection, having offered to discuss the question with any Free Trade 'champion, Mr U. H. Keid, of Sydney, picked up the gauntlet and the discussion came off. Ihe hall was packed by Protectionists, who by a large majority endorsed Mr .Buchanan s views. The tea seed crop is said to be a failure in Assam. The personal estate of the Jate Prince Louis Napoleon has been sworn under L 60,000.
