At the meeting held at Hokitika on Wednesdayto urge upon the Government the necessity of proceeding with the public works in the district, the following resolutions were passed:—!. That this meeting views with much anxiety and alarm the delay on the part of the Government in not proceeding with the public works in the district, as provided for in the Schedule of Appropriations for the nine months ending 31st March current; and desire to urge upon the Government the importance and absolute necessity for immediate action being taken in respect to the construction of the Hokitika and Grey Bailway, more particularly that section including the Arahura Bridge.—2, That in view of the financial year terminating on the 31st of this month, the attention of the Government be directed to the urgency of proceeding with the following appropriations of Parliament last session, namely -.—For survey of East and West Coast Railway, construction of Mikonui and other races, construction of roads and bridges, the Jackson’s Bay Jetty, and other works in the Westland district.-3 That this meeting urge on the Government the necessity of assisting the County Council to make immediate provision for the restoretlon of traffic across the Arahura Bridge.— 4. That the Mayor be requested to telegraph the foregoing resolutions, on behalf of this meeting, to the Honorable the Premier, the Honorable the Minister for Public Works, and the Hon. W. Gisborne,
