In consequence of J. Mackay, Esq., the Warden and Resident Magistrate of this district, having to attend a sitting of the Licensing Court at Creyinonth to-morrow, the Assessment and Warden's Courts here will be adjourned until Thursday next. At the nomination for a member to fill the vacant seat in the Westland Gounty Council, at Stafford Town on Saturday last, Messrs Seddon and W. Linnell were the only persons nominated. The polling takes place on Saturday next at the various booths mentioned in our advertising columns. A cad accident says the West Coast Times, occurred on Saturday by which a boy abon + ' ~!. ■■: v \ . Walter Nolan, son of Captain Nolan, lost his life. The lad was bathing with some other boys in the sea at the rear of the Royal George Hotel, when he suddenly disappeared. An alarm was given and
attempts were made t 6 recover the body, but without success. There is a deep hole at the spot where the accident occurred, outside of which a sandbank has formed, and the unfortunate boy may have been washed over this bank. "Up to the present time the body has not been recovered, but the police are making active search for it along the beach.
