THE DISCOVERY OF A NIHILIST PRESS IN BERLIN.

_ *h reference to the discovery in Berlin on Christmas Day of a secret press and printing office belonging to the Russian Nihilists, the German papers publish some further particnlars. The discovery and seizure were made by •officers belonging to the political and detective section of the Berlin police,

aided it is stated, by detectives of the mysterious "third section" of the St. Petersburg}* police. One thousand freshly-printed copies of a Nihilist organ were found on the premises &nd seized. At the head of the compositors was a Russian, who is stated to have lived some years in exile in Siberia. This workman together with the tenant and proprietor of the printing office, and likewise a student of Polish origin) were the principal persons arrested. The edition of the new revolutionary newspaper and the whole of the type, presses, machines, and various papers and manuscripts were at once placed in three carts and taken to the central Berlin) police court in the Molkenmarkt, where, after the requisite preparations have been made by the public prosecutor, the prisoners will be placed on their trial for engaging in practices of a treasonable and dangerous character to the State. It is conjectured that' the Nihilist Mirsky, whose sentence to death at the recent trial in, St. Petersburgh was commuted, and who- is known to hive given to the Russian authorities information respecting some of the seerets of the Nihilist party, furnished the clue which enabled the Russian and Prussian police to trace the whereabouta of the' Nihilist printingoffice in Berlin.
