AN ACTOR’S DEATH.
A Correspondent of the Paris Figaro tells a sad story of an actor’s death, tt occurred recently at the Batignolles, on the Erst night of the prtriotic drama Hoche, One of the parts, thgt of an old miser, was played by and aged actor called Lucas-. LiicaS had been long ill, and his illness had weakened him considerably. He refused, however, to resign his part, and made his entry as best he might, working In's Way from chair to chair, and stammering his speeches rather that! saying them. He had to feign alarm at the progress of a riot by which he was threatened with the loss of his money, and he Was applauded to thfe echo. In the next act the Bastille cannon sound, and thte miser, despairing of his treasures, has to fall into the arms of somebody near him, LUcas fell, as his cue obliged him j but he fell to rise no too more. Five minutes after, he was 'dead, Since played Argan in the Malade Imaginaire-, dissembling his convulsions in a shriek of comic laughter, and going off to die that night, no actor has come lb so professional an end Us poor Lucas at tlie Batignolles-.
