If so the inward mails will reach Auckland Wen a day earlier than jiamed, arriving on Sunday instead of Wednesday, The Government are r cdmmunicatsng with the TJnion Company regarding the possibility of arranging with them for transmission of ,the mail direct from Auckland to Wellington, so far as the Otago, Canterbury, Wellington, Marl borough, And Southland poitiong are concerned. Tinder this system the mails will reach Auckland in thirty-eight days, arriving there on Sunday, Wellington on Monday (thirty-nine days), Christchurch "’and Dunedin. Tuesday, forty days, and ■‘at the outside forty-one days, tinder The new arrangement the March mail .steamer will leave San Francisco on Saturday, the 13th prox., insteadof on Monday, the 15th, as announced in The time-table, arriving at Auckland on Sunday, 4th April, instead of Wediiesday, 7th.
