The Wellmgton correspondent of the Christchurch Press telegraphs this doleful message:—“ Prom inquiries I have made I fear the * fatal fourth’ has been very unfavorable this month. I hear that the number of returned is unusually large, and business la reported -as worse than ever, especially among the retail tradesmens”
