Some correspondence has taken place between,the Admira'ty and Sir Julius Vogel in reference to the establishment of a depot at the Crozet Islands. “My Lords ” object to it, as it would be an encouragement to .vessels to proceed to higher latitudes than is thought safe or desirable. The depot required is, however, to be established by private enterprise, and H.M.S, Cornu.*, which is to visit the islands on her way to China, on the possibility of the Knowsley Hall, which left some months back for New Z aland, and has not been heard of. having been wrecked there, will take out stores to be deposited at the islands.
