Only seven out of a field of twenty* two started for the Champion Race, owing to First King being considered almost a certainty. The favorite won as he liked by four lengths; Wek lington second. There was a splendid finish for third place, Petrea, beating Martindale by a short neck, Time smin. dOisee. - Grand Flaveur won the Normandy Stakes Palmyra, who was a strong favourite, was nowhere. The steeplechase at Tattersall's meeK ing was won by Master Linne easily. Doherty, the jockey of Banker, was badly hurt. Nancy won the Handicap, Mr Jellett's horses Richmond and Bosworth, engaged in the Dunedin Cup race, are expected to leave Melbourne for the Bluff about the end of this month. Instructions have been received to engage quarter's for them.
