British and foreign. London, January 7. The Board of Trade returns for the last month show that imports reached a total of £35,375,000, being an increase of £8,750,000 compared with last last year. Tl)0 exports amounted to £10,500,000 showing an increase of £21,250. January 8. The Irish Government have decided to advance £250,000 of Church surplus funds for carrying oilt works for the relief of distress in Ireland. The barque Bobycito, bound from Dunedin to .Newcastle, was spoken off Wollongong with only a mast standing, and the forehold apparently filled with water. She declined assistance.
