ARAHURA ROAD BOARD.

Sin—As the ratepayers of this district are threatened with another Road Board election, to fill the vacancy of Messrs Seddon, Lawliss, and Rogers, Vhose acts &s Road Board members since last December have been entirely illegal two of them only having been Selected, the third not being so, thereby tendering every act done by the other two illegal. In going from the question of legality of membership the ratepayers have a tight to know what has become of the moneys received by Messrs Seddon and Co* since their taking office last December. Messrs Griffiths, Hannan, and Murphy left ;£lO 2s 6d at the bank, and in March, the subsidy (amounting to about £*}()) \vas received from the Government, sitice which there have been rates sued for and recovered from M‘Dermott, Hall, Robinson, and others, amounting to about £2O. Before giving np their hold upon thefje members, the ratepayers have a right to demand information why this money was not paid into the bank according to law. Are we to submit any longer to these high-handed proceedings from Mr Seddon and a person styling himself “ Clerk of the Board/’ whose appointment emanated and. was made in a “ bar tap V* The ratepayers will find the outcome of these recent proceedings will be another Road Board assessment for the ensuing yean—-I am, &c., F; Stanhope; [The election of three qualified members for the Arahura Road Board Is announced under instructions from his Excellency the Governor. —EC.
