[press agency.] THE NEW COURT OF JUSTICE AT WELLINGTON. MASONIC CEREMONY. Wellington, December 1. The foundation stone of the new Court of Justice was laid to-day by the Hon. F. Whitaker, Attorney-General and Grand Master of Freemasons of the North Island, with Masonic ceremonies. These were the grandest display of the kind ever seen here ; fully four thousand people were assembled, of whom over five hundred were ladies, for whom raised seats had been prepared. Over 150 Masons appeared in icgalia, many being from other parts of the colony. All tlie local Volunteers forces assisted at the ceremony, which was very imposing. The day is beautifully fine and is generally observed as a holiday. Christchurch, November 29. At a meeting of licensees, under the Licensing Act last night, a resolution, was passed “ That the Government be requested to submit to the several Licensing Benches throughout the colony, their several opinions, any Licensing Bill they propose introducing into Parliament.” [special to times.] Wellington, December 1. The Kanieri County petition will probably be reconsidered, as Mr Mueller has reported the area to be about one-

lialf Of what the petitioners had been inftftned by the survey office. It is that names have been improbably struck out of the petition. The new Counties Act and the Municipal Amendment Act will probably be amongst the slaughtered innocents.
