At a meeting of the South Canterbury Jockey Club it was resolved that the annual races be held about a fortnight after the Christchurch Metropolitan meeting. The stakes to be given at next meeting were fixed at £630. Doctor Rayner, one of the oldest residents in South Canterbury, and foryears a member of the Provincial Council, died yesterday. The new Roman Catholic School was opened this morning. It will over 200 pupils. yR Dunedin. November 3.
