N 0 T I C E. >URE VOLATILE EITeALY£T : ui GLOBULUS. EXTRACT. Under the distinguished patronage of his Majesty the King of Italy, %t Home, according to communication received from the Cohsul-Geueral for Italy, at Melbourne, upon instructions from the Minister for i?Breigij Affairs, dated 14th March. 1878: • "We are informed that dealers iri medicine often try to sell the encylvptus oil found in the trade instead'of pur' Euclyptus Extract. So far as the committing of imposition against the public in such a case is concerned,- the.consequences would not be serious ; but as the qualities of both of the products are in many cases directly opposed to one another, we consider it our duty.to direct the public attention to tlie following facts : The eucalyptus oil is recorded to be of value as a. medicament in cases of rheumatism of secondary nature, and manifests a drawing, blistering effect upon the skin. Any blistering brought on by the ap : plication of a medicament must increase' inflamation, and it is therefore, evident that in cases of wounds, colds, bron : chitis, diptheria, croup, sprains &c:j the curative power of our extract on the named diseases being unques'tioh : ably proved by former publications in this paper. An application of the oil instead of our extract must impair the diseased. The truth of our assertion is founded upon the fact that the oil is a resinous product equivalent' to common turpentine, its market value being about three shillings one pound weight; our extract consists of the evaporating particles of the gum leaves, soothing and healing in its effects, its price being twenty-four shillings for one pound weight. Our extract, the genuirie. article, is only made up in one half ounce and one ounce vials J vials bear? ing on the labels our trade mark and signature. SANDER and SONS; Soie Manufac: turers of the Eucalyptus Extract. Sandhurst, November, 1878: DUNCAN M'LEAN, Wholesale Agent for New Zealand 1 . The Extract of the Eucalyptus GlobyU lug, manufactured solely by Messrs Sander and Sons, Sandhurst; recommends itself by the following declaration and testimonials :- Epitome of declaration made before Moritz Cohn, J.P., on the 17th October; 1877, at Sandhurst:—"Three fiiedical gentlemen had attended the son of Mr ftaabc, of Ironbark, for nine weeks, and declared that amputation of the leg injured by an axe was absolutely necessary. At this junction Mr Raabe called on Messrs Sander and Sons, procuring some of their Extract of the Eucalyptus Globulus, and by the application of the same he had the satisfaction of seeing his son within a fort : night out of all danger, and he has now quite recovered." Brief Extracts from the Bendigd Evening News : ' Mr Gieschin, residing near Sydenham Gardens; bad a very severe cold in November, could scarcely breathe, and could get no relief. Cured after three applications of the extract. The same gentleman suffered eight years from rupture, and all medical skill proved ineffectual in giving relief. Cured after taking extract internally for six mouths.
A man having bis arm bruised severely at a crushing machine, in Long Gully, applied the extract, and the accident did not even necessitate as much as an interruption in his attendance at work. Mrs Weppner, in Colbinabbin (Runnyinede) informed the manufacturer that the extract applied twice restored health to her daughter, eleven years of age, who had been rushed and trampled upon by a cow. In November Mrs Reeves, from the Rifleman's Arms, Back Creek, brought information of a cure of delirium caused by sunstroke, which took place in' the family of Mr Ryan, butcher, of Back Greek. The wife of Mr Fickel suffered in the bend uf the knee from a swelling which had formed a lump of considerable size, disabling her from attending to any work. She removed the swellin" completely by a continued application of the extract. The Donald Times, oflsfc December, 1877, states .--Last week the eldest boy of Mr Morgan awoke in the nig'i'. crying with earache. The extract w,«? applied, and the little fellow was curi v and asleep in ten minutes. DUNCAN M'LEAN, Wholesale Agent for New Zealand
