HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES. Thursday, October 30.
The House yesterday and to-day got through a good deal of private busiuess. Replying to Mr Masters, the Government said they had no power to arrauge for periodical sittings of the Westland Waste Lands Board at Greymouth. Replying to Mr Gisborne, they said they would introduce a Chinese Immigration Bill this session.
The political position of the Opposition having been broken up by the defection of the Northern members, busines is proceeding rapidly and satisfactorily. It is expected the session will be over in a month.
The Gold Export Daty Gradual Reduction Bill will probably be agreed to. Mr V. Pyke has given notice of a Bill to reduce the price of miners' rights.
