We have received a communication from Mr Frederick Stanhope, of Dillman’s Town, relative to our leading article of last evening, which article was written under the impression that the letter that appear in the report of the proceedings of the W r estland County Council (as published by the West Coast Times on the 9th inst.) was a bona fide production of Mr Stanhope’s. This, however, Mr Stanhopes partially denies in the following words : “ As such a letter was never sent by me to the Westland County Council and as legal proceedings have been already taken in reference to the letter referred to I have to- request that you refrain from further traducing my character. - ’ It will be observed that Mr Stanhope does not deny the authorship of the letter, which appears to have by some mysterious proceeding been introduced into the inward correspondence of the- Westland County Council instead of the correspondence columns of the West Coast Times,
