The total number of cholera cases, throughout the country from the time of its first appearance to ftste is about 1 S.O3S Eighty per cent, of those attacked, have died. Yokohama, Yeddoj and .Nagasaki have not yet Keen infected; but of 5349 cases reported'from Osaka, 4031 died, forty-five rec-ovend,and' tlie remainder are still fonder treatment. and Looclioo complications still remain unsettled, and it is feared that, l.l.lpie; ared as Japan is at present, §lie will be compelled to rnake war preparations to correspond with tliose beint,' made by the Chinese. A fire at Todio consumed 136 houses before being extinguished. The rainy season this year has been exceptionally severe. Several rivers have'-oyer flowed inundating a laiye area! of rice fields; and sweeping away br'dges* and houses in some districts. Such floods have not been known for thirty years. The exports from Japan for the month.of May were Valued at 2,097,3-25 flols,- and the imports at 2-,505,510d0].5. The revision of the existing treaties with foreign- powers is about to take place.
