MR MASTERS’ VOTE.

[TO THE EDgrOß.] ' Sm—The resignation of the'Ministry in consequence of the tidence. vote the other evening was a matter of course. Mr Masters deserves the highest commendation for las action in the affairs. It was,- - however, anticipated', by a great many on this side ; who if. they did trot vote for MV Masters, are nevertheless one with him in the questiblY at issue in re the Grey Mifiistiy. But how was it that Mr Seddon's' brilliant speech (which actually lasted* an hour and a-ha If)' and that other honorable members' Mr Speight, didnot liave better effect; surely such' oratory could not have failed' to’ change 1 ' the minds of some of tl*e r Opposition moreover Mr de Lautour complimented* Mr Seddon oil his telling abilities as a' speaker, and, I dare say he did the' Ministry at the same time, on their, latest acquisitions. Those acquainted with Mr de Lautour, know him to indulge in srreasm - at times; however,' he may not have been jocular on thisj 1 occasion, certainly not. It is hoped' that the views of honorable members tor the West Coast will undergo some modification. I would advise them all,' with the exception of Mr Seddon to ; follow in the line demarkated by Mr Masters, of course no one would attempt to advise Mr Seddon whom Me de Lautour prohounced so correct. But, with all seriousness, let' us hope we we liaVe seen the last of Sir George ; Grey and his followers. Tn reality all that .haS been done for the West Coast' duriiig the Grey administration was ; projected and laid out by the former adinihistration and according to Parliamentary usage would in any case have’ been'carried out'.—T arh &c., Vacuka.
