THE ORGAN AT THE SIDNEY EXHIBITION.

This instrument, purchased by the London Commission at a cost of .£6oo' tor the international, was erected by' Mr Jacfeson at the north end cJrthtf nave, and fnlly completed, in spile of many drawbacks and accidents, ou the Monday nigbt before the opening. It is au old instrument, built by Gray aud Davison, of London, asa>G. organ, and altered by the makers subsequently into a C instrument. The grand organ, has a compass from CC to F, with 10 stops—viz., double diapason, open' dia-

jsason, (No. 1 and No: 2) stopped diapason, principal, harmonic flute, twelfth, fifteenth, mixture, and trumpet. The compass of th* pedal organ is from CCC to to E, and has hat three stops—grand open" and bourdon, each 17ftj,-and violoncello Bft; The compass of-tha swell organ is only to tenoi C. It is a great pity that this does not go down to double C, as by this defect one of the greatest features of the organ is lost. The stops are seven in number, ..viz., bourdonj open diapason, stopped diapason) principal, mixture, cornopean, and oboe\ The choir organ has six stops—dulciana, stopped diapason, principal, flute, piccolb, and clarionet. The couplers are graet to pedals,, cjipir to pedals, swell to graet anfl choir to swell. The decoration is avery tastefully finished, and the work reflects great credit on Mr Jackson, especially as he erected the organ without any specification whatever.*'—Sydney Telegraph.
