NOTICE. DURE VOLATILE Etf'CALYPTtJIs Und'i- tlie distinguished patronage' of Ins Majesty the King ot' Italy, it Rome, according to communication ■•eceived froiii the Consul-General for Italy, at Melbourne, upon instructions from tin- Minister for Foreign Affairs, elated 14th March, 1878. W« are informed that dealers in medicine often try to sell the encylvjH tus Oil found in tlie trade instead of our Euclyptus Kxtraet. ; So far as the committ'iimr of imposition against tlie public in such a case is concerned, the consequences would not be serious ; but as the qualities of both of the products, are in many cases directly opposed to one' another, we consider it. our duty,to direct the public attention to the following facts:— The eucalyptus Oil is recorded to W of value as a medicament in cases of rheumatism of secondary nature; and! manifests a drawing, blistering effect' upon the skin. Any blistering brought on by the application of a medicament must increase inflamation, and it is therefore evident that in cases of wounds, colds, bi-oii-chitis, diptheria, croup, . sprains &c.j' the curative power of our extract on the named diseases being unquestionably proved by former publications in this paper. An application of the oil instead of our extract must impair the diseased. The truth of our assertion is founded upon the fact that the oil is a resinous product equivalent to common turpentine, its market value being about three shillings one pound weight; our extract consists of the evaporating particles of the gum leaves, soothing and healing in its effects, its price being twenty-four . shillings for one pound weight. Our extract; the genuine article, is only made up in one half oun6e and one ounce vials; vials bearing on the labels our trade mark and signature. SANDER and SONS, Sole Manufacturers of the Eucalyptus Extract. Sandhurst, November, 1878. DUNCAN M'LEAN, Wholesale Agent for New Zealand. The Extract of the Eucalyptus" Globulus, manufactured solely by Messrs' Sander and Sons, Sandhurst, recommends itself by the following declaration and testimonials : Epitome of declaration made before Moritz Cohn, J.P., on the 17th October, 1877, at .Sandhurst:—" Three medical gentlemen had attended the *on of Mr r Ra'abe, of for nine weeks, and declared that amputation of the leg injured by an axe was absolutely necessary. At this junedon Mr Raa-be called on Messrs Sander and Sons, procuring some of their Extract of the Eucalyptus Globulus, and by the application of the same he had the satisfaction ot seeing his sOn within a 1 fortnight out of all danger, and he has now quite recovered." Brief Extracts from the Bendigo' Eveniug News : Mr Gieschin, residing near Sydenham Gardens, had a very severe cold in November, could scarcely breathe',' and could get no relief. Cured after three applications of the extract. The same gentleman suffered eight years from rupture, and all medical skill proved ineffectual in giving relief. Cured after taking extract internally for six months. A man having hi 3 arm bruisScf severely at a crushing machine, hi Lonw Gully,, applied the extract, and the accident did not even necessitate as much as an interruption in his attendance at work. Mrs Weppner, Hi Colbinabbiri (PomnymedeJ informed the manufaci turera that the extract applied twice' restored health to her daughter, eleven years of age, who had been rushed and: trampled upofh by a cow. In November Mrs' Reeves, from the' Rifleman's Arms, Back Creek, brought information of a cure of delirium catfse'cf by sunstroke, which took place in the family of Mr Ryan, butcher, of Back Creek. The wife of Mr Fickel suffered irr the bend uf the knee from a swelling which had formed a lump of considerable size, disabling her fronV attending to any work. She' removed the s'weiC' ing completely by a continued applica'tion of the extract. The'Donald times, of Ist December; 1877, states, r- Last week the eldest boy of Mr Morgan awoke in tlie crying with' earache.
