Judgment was for defendants, on legal grounds. Plaintiff gave notice of appeal. Auckland, Sept. 15. John Fitzgerald, for jewellery robbery, was remanded for prosecution. . It is stated the Minister of Marine will not leave for San Francisco, till the trial of Captiitu Murphy and his mate for alleged cruelties. Chiustchuroii, Sept. 15. The Lyttelton Gas Company has declared a dividend of 10 per cent for the* year ending August 31st. The Suez mail will be brought on without stepping at the Bluff to-mor-row for the first time. Dunedin, Sept. 15. Theeommitteeofthe Dunedin Jockey Club have fixed the dates of the Spring and Autumn Meetings of the club as follows : —Spt ing Meeting,- Saturday 29th November, and Monday, Ist December; Autumn Meeting on Thursday, Friday and Saturday,- the 26th, 27th, and 28th of February, 1880. The inquest on the fire has beeu adjourned till to-morrow (Tuesday).
