The Post places ■ the candidates thus; —2-1 Ministerialists, 29 Oppositionists, 7 doubtful (including Masters, Sbepperd, Bunny, and Turnbull.) The Times places the candidates thus 26 Grey’ices, 3G anti-Greyites, 1- doubtful (Hallmice, Blinin', Masters, and M'Caughan) being classed Grey and anti-Grey'. The anti-Greys have a majority of eight or nine at least, as the Ministerial and anti- Ministerial party arc iqiially divided. The only feature to guide one in calcinating, are the compact and coherent body, while the other side are composed of Greyites proper and Liberals, who support the Government programme but object to Sir George Grey personally. Sept. 11. Reader Wood has been returned for Waiteinata ; Whitaker, jmi. ibrWaipa; Speight, for Auckland Gity Fast; Luudou for Mongtmui and Bay Island. For the Clive, Ormond, 50d, has been returned,. Sheehan,, 3GO, got a block vote of 100 Maoris on the roll, but was nevertheless defeated.
