The Kumara Times. Published Every Evening. MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 8, 1879.

Those who attended the Theatre Eoyal on Saturday evening last, to witness Rainer’s Diorama of the American War, could not but have been highly gratified with the genuine character of this entertainment as compared with others of a similar character that have been exhibited in this town. The views presented, reflecting as they do the greatest credit oh the artist, are not daubs on canvass, but well-finished pictures, the perspective in some being admirable. In this class of entertainment, music is a necessary adjunct, and the company may be justly complimented on the efficiency and excellence of its orchestra, the cornopeon playing of the leader alone being a musical treat that might be only expected at the lips of Levy or Stanton. The descripth e portion of the Diorama was given by Mr Stanley in a most humorous, entertaining, and edifying manner the introduction of a song, giving this gentleman an opportunity to display a fine falsetto voice. A distribution of gifts took place at the termination of the entertainment, one person receiving a very handsome oil painting, another” a silver watch; and others various prizes. The gifts, we may mention, are fairly “given,” the objectionable envelope system not being resorted to by this company. The entertainment is thoroughly deserving of public support, and as such should be well patronised this evening.

Persons having claims against Mr Seddon’s Committee are requested to forward them to the Buck’s Head Hotel before to-morrow evening.
