TO THE ELECTORS OF THE GREY Valley. IIINTLEMEN, As I am afraid it will bo impossible for me to visit all the centres of population in this Electorate, I take this means of communicating my views upon the principal topics of interest now engaging the attention of this district and the Colony generally. I shall support the Grey Ministry, so long as I hav6 reason to think it is their intention honestly to carry out the principal public works promised by them, and absolutely necessary for the prosperity and actual vitality of the Grey Valley, viz

The maih lih'e of railway, Brunherton to Amberley, with continuation through Grey Valley And Reefton to Nelsoil, Greymouth Harbor Works! 1 shall support the Liberal Policy set forth in the Governor’s Speech, viz. : Extension of the Franchise, Triennial Parliaments, Re-adjustment of Representation. I approve of the present Land Tax, abet would support the introduction of a Property Tax, and other measures leading to the more equitable distribution of the burdens of taxation. I am an advocate for Liberal Lands Laws, I am in favour of a purely Secular, National System of Education. I shall support every measure offering increased facility and encouragement to Mining Enterprise, and am consequently averse to, and shall oppose, Taxation of Gold-mining Plant and Property. I shall favor measures placing every possible restriction upon Chinese Immigration. In conclusion, I beg to state that you may rely upon my supporting every measure, which, in my judgment, is likely to conduce to the prosperity of the Grey Valley. E. MASTERS.

QEEijSTG that a number of influential Electors fi'oni all parts of the Electorate have done me the honor, by recpiisitioli, to ask me to become a Candidate at the forthcoming El. ct'on, I have very great pleasure in acceding to their request, and sincerely thank them for the expression of confidence and good will convoyed therein. TO THE ELECTORS OF THE HOKITIKA DISTRICT. /A ENTLEMEN, —Doing now on the eve of a general election for the House of Representatives, I intend to offer myself as a Candidate for your Suffrages in seeking election to the General Assembly. I am a supporter of Sir George Grey and the Liberal Policy ; or any Government that will carry out that programme and do justice to the interests of Westland. I will pledge myself to urge on the speedy completion of the East and West Coast Railway, and the deviation of the Hokitika and Greymouth Line to Kumara, Goldsborough, and Stafford. While supporting the present State System of Education, 1 consider that separate schools are entitled to assistance on some equitable basis in the large centres of population. I shall support | the Local Option Bill, and in altering the Licensing System as at present administered. 1 shall advocate more Liberal Aid for Prospecting, and a gradual Reduction of the Gold Duty. I shall urge the more equitable expenditure of borrowed money in future, and gi’oator economy ; Deferred Payment in Laird to bona fide settlers ; and the Stoppage of Free Immigration for the present. !
