GENERAL ELECTION TO THE ELECTORS OR THE HOKITIKA ELECTORAL DISTRICT. YYENTLEAIEN, —I have to inform you * A that I have this clay sent in my Resignation. My reason for so cloin" is this, that being a staunch Lineral ahcMm ardent supporter of the present administration, I felt that on the one hand my election was in no way assured, yet that my Candidature must necessarily injure others in the same interest. Sooner, therefore, than persist in a course which would injure the cause, I have withdrawn. I sincerely thank those friends who have so far nobly aided my candidature, and I very much regret they should experience any disappointment at my hands. My solo reason for withdrawing is loyalty to the cause. I am Ao., W. MORTON PURKISS. Hokitika, Ist. September, 1879. ELECTION NOTICE. TO THE RETURNING OFFICER FOR THE ELECTORAL DISTRICT OF HOKITKA.
