Eight more Natives committed for trial fot taking possession and ploughing up Europeans land. There has been a quarrel between the members of the medical staff of the hospital, which has led to the resignation of two of them. The Board have tried to settle the difficulty harmoniously without accepting the resignations. The two youngsters who have been committing a round of petty larcenies lately were sent to the Industrial School for four years to-day. The Waimakarhi water supply experiment will be put to the test next week, all the necessary preparations, sinking the cylinder, &c, having been made. Dunedix, August 21. A meeting of exhibitors at the Sydney Exhibition to day, it was resolved to send Mr G. Grant to Sydney, as special agent, in connection witk the exhibits, subject to necessary funds being raised. A requisition is being signed asking Mr H. S. Fish to come out for the city. The Dnnedin footballers leave for Christchurch to-morrow. Three more informations ot embezzlement have been laid against Thomas Chalmers Reid. A meeting of working men was held last night to consider the advisability of bringing forward a candidate to represent the working classes in the coming election. It was decided to adjourn, and if possible amalgamate with the proposed Liberal Association to be formed at the Provincial Hotel on Friday evening.
