The following are further particulars of the murder of Mr FmHyson, Secretary of the Melbourne and Hobson’s Bay railway, alluded to in our telegrams James Fredk Lawrence, for many years a Clerk in the Goods Department of the Hobson’s Bay railway, wilfnllylmurdered Mr Thomas Finlayson, the Secretary of the company, on July 28. Mr Finlayson thereupon immediately suspended him Lawrence then drew a Webley revolver pnrcha.-ed some days before, and shot Mr Finlayson through the head. He tried to point the weapon at his captors, but they disarmed him before further mischief was done. The crowd became so exasperated that they tried to lynch the murderer on the spot, Mr Finlayson was one of the meet respected men in the city. He was unmarried.
