THE BURGESS ROLL.

[to thb editor.] Sir-t-Official propriety debars me from replying to "Audacity" as fully as I could wish; bat the importance of the subject must be my excuse for stating that he is entirely wrong, and that none of the persons mentioned by him are disfranchised by the action of the Revising Officer. The fact is that " Audacity" has got hold of a wrong Burgess Roll, viz that, of 1879, instead of 1878. Being assessed for the Borough for the year 1879 does not qualify any person to be placed on the Electoral Roll.until March 18&0, and then only in the event of his having paid all rates struck by the Borough Council., " Audacity's" remark about the miners is also a mistake, as very well know that their miners rights qualify them not only to vote, but to be returned for Parliament without being registered or being on any Burgess or other Roll.—Yours, &c., James Wylde. August 12th, 1879.
