A novel presentation is thus recorded in *n American paper:—Just as Mias Clara ..Morris appeared before the cnrtain in response to the calls of the audience at the Grand- Opera. House in Cincinnati on an evening recently, a man emerged- from the a Shetland pony. It wore a red halter, and around its neck, was a wreath of flowers. The man approached the actress and said—“ Miss Morris. On behalf of Mr John .Robinson, I am instructed to present to yon this ■ oble animal,” At the same time he passed the red halter into the hands of the actress. Miss Morris was quite taken aback uy the novelty of the present, and said as she retired, “ I must write a card of thanks to Mr for I can hardly express my gratitude at this time.” It is rumored here that Mr Ballance will stand against Sir W. Fox for one of the Wanganui seats ' Mr Bryce’s return for the other is considered certain. A warm contest is expected.
