URE VOLATILE EUCALYPTUS GLOBULUS EXTRACT. Under the distinguished pAtron>»ge of his Majesty the King of Italy, it Rome, according to comrilUnication received from the Consul-General for Italy, lit Melbourne; upon fnstruc* •tions from the Minister fdr'Fdreign Affairs, dated 14th March; 1878; We a?e. informed that dealers id medicine often try to sell the eucyltj* tus oil found in the trade instead of onr Euclyptus Extract. So far as the committing of imposition against the public’ in such a case is concerned, the consequences would not be serious ; but »s the qualities of both of the products are in directly opposed to one . another, we consider it our duty : to direct the public attention to the following facts: — The eucalyptus oil is recorded to be of value as a medicament in cases of rheumatism of secondary nature, and manifests a drawings blistering effect upon the skin. Any blistering brought on by the application of a medicametit rrittSt increase inflamation, and it is therefore evident that in cases of wounds, colds, bronchitis, diptheria; oroupj sprains the curative power of our extract on the named diseases being unquestionably proved by former publications in this paper. An application of' the Oil instead of oiir extract must impair the diseased; The truth of odr assertion is foiindect upon the fact that the oil is a resinous ■ product equivalent to common turpentine, its market vakle being about three shillings one pound weight; onr extract consists of the evaporating particles of the giim leaves, soothing and healing in its effects, its price being twenty-four shillings for one pound weight. Our extract, the genuine article, is only made up in one half ounce and one ounce vials ; vials hearing on the labels oiir trade mark and signature. SANDER and SONS, Sole Manufacturers of the Eucalyptus Extract. Sandhurst, November, 1878; DUNCAN M‘LEAN; Wholesale Agent for New Zealand. The Extract of the Eucalyptus Globulus, manufactured solely by Messrs Sander arid Sons, Sandhurst; recom- • mends itself by the following declaration and testimonials Epitome of declaration made before Moritz Cohn, J.P., on the 17th October,-, 1877, at Sandhurst :—“ Three medical gentlemen had attended the son of Mr Raabe, of Ironbark, for nine weeks, and declared that amputation of the leg injured by an axe was absolutely necessary. At this junction Mr. Raabe called dn Messrs Sander arid Sons, pro- ; curing some of their Extract of the Eucalyptus Globulus, arid by the application of the same he had the satis-* - faction of seeing his son within a fortnight out of all danger, and he has now quite recovered," Brief Extracts from the Bendigo Eveniug News : Mr Giesclun, residing near ■ Sydeqham Gardens, Had a very severe cold in November, could scarcely breathe, and could get no relief. Cured after th ree applications of the extract. The same gentleman suffered eight years from rapture, and all medical skill proved ineffectual in giving relief. Cured after taking extract internally for six months. A man having his arm bruised severely at a crushing machine, in, Long Gully, applied the extract, and the accident did not even necessitate as much as an interruption in his attendance at work. Mrs Weppner, in Colbinabbm" (Runnymede) informed the manufacturers that the extract applied twice restored health to her daughter, eleven years of age, who had been rushed and trampled upon by a cow. In November Mrs Reeve's, from the Rifleman s Arras, Back Creek, brought * information of a cure of delirium caused by sunstroke, which took place in the family of Mr Ryan, butcher,- of BackCreek. The wife of Mr Fickel suffered in the bend of the knee from a swelling which had formed a lump of considerable size, disabling her from attendin'* to any work. She removed: the swell- ■ ing completely by a continued application of the extract.
