THE BURGESS ROLL.
[to the edito'r.] Sir—l Called at your office to-day to ascertain your authority for the statement which appeared in your last night's paper with regard to the Burgess Roll, but owing to your absence from town I could get no information. The information you give the public is as new to me as to anyone. I can positively state that "an alphabetical list of persons being male 3 of 21 years or upwards who shall have been assessed and shall have made payment of any rate made by the goveVhing body in respect of rateable property situate in an electoral district within the year ending on the 30th of March instant" was forwarded by me to the Registration Officer, as provided by the Act, on the Ist April last, and that the said list was afterwards signed by the Revising Officer, and posted on the Court House at Kuraara. I have never heard a word of any objection being made to the list.Yours, ike, James Wylde.
