[to the editor.] Sir—l have heard a great deal lately about the lavish expenditure of the Kumara Hospital Committee in getting up the last Hospital benefit. It does certainly seem strange that over x3O was expended in getting up an enterment which only realized about £B7. If the gentlemen who performed had charged for their services, outsiders would not be surprised, but it is generally understood that they did not.
