The deficiency, including £137,541 from 1878, was £268,522, for which he proposes to provide by increased land tax, £70,000 ; new duties, £126,144; increased duties, £192,050 ; total net taxes, £308,194., These include 25 per cent ad valorem on apparel, manufactured metals, and wooden ware; wine, 6s per gallon ; rice 6s per 1001 b ; barley 2s per 1001 b; malt, 3s per bushel ; hops, 6d per lb.
