[AUSTRALASIAN SHIPPING NEWS, JUNE 28.] j,he Rose M barque, of Sydney, has bee. Bold lately to a purchaser in that city, who paid L 950 for her. The Agnes, schooner, 43 tons, of Adelaide, has just been purchased by Mi Douglas, of King George’s Sound, for the local trade. In last week’s issue we stated that the .Ellora, barque, had left Sydney for Calcutta via Newcastle ; this should have been via Melbourne. Three of the mutineers on board the Kate Waters were tried at Hong Kong on 13th ult, found guilty, and sentenced to death. The Government of Tasmania have it in contemplation to erect a light on the north-west coast of that island; Circular Head will probably be the spot selected. The Amphitrite, barque, of Sydney, was sold there by public auction on 19th inst ana was purchased by Mr Yeager, of Richmond River, N.S.W, for L 1450. The fleet of steamers belonging to the Clarence and New England Steam Navigation Company were submitted for salein Sydney by auction on 24th inst, but no satisfactory offers being made were bought The hull, engines, etc, of the Monaro, s s were offered at auction in Sydney by the Erevlons purchaser of the wreck on 9th mat ut the auctioneers were unable to effect a sale. The pilotage fees received at Liverpool for the first quarter of this year were 114 33.8, a? against L 15.381 and L 16,230 for 1877 and 1878 respectively. The receipts for the last three years ending March 3i show a still more serious falling off, being L6l 794 L 65,307, and L68,332—a reduction ot over 9 per cent since 1877. With reference to the paragraph in onr last issue relative to the committal of Captain Thompson, of the Belle, brigantine, for stealing coal belonging to Huddart, Parker and Co, of Melbourne, which was in that vessel, we learn that the Crown Prosecutor at Maitland has refused to put him on his trial, as he considers there is no case against him.
