A meeting to consider the desirability of a new County and also the deviation of the Hokitika and Greymouth Railway line, will be held at Dillman's Town this evening. The chair will be taken punctually at eight o'clock.

A numerously attended meeting of the ratepayers of the Goldsborough district was held at the Oddfellows Hall last evening, to consider the question of petitioning for a new County, and also the proposed deviation of the Hokitika and Greymouth Railway. The chair was occupied by Mr Perry, and resolutions were passed affirming the desirability of both objects. The three members of the County Council for the district attended, and spoke at great length on the two subjects.

The names of the nineteen gentlemen nominated as candidates for the Committee of Management of the local Hospital appear in another column, from whom the subscribers to the institution should have little difficulty in electing a throughly zealous and efficient Committee.
